Privacy Policy

Silavelle ("we", "us") is a small web studio in Ottawa, Ontario. A person reads the email address on this page and answers it.
This page says what we collect on this website, and why. It also says what you can ask us to do about it. It is short on purpose.
We follow Canada's federal privacy law, PIPEDA. That is the law that says what a business is allowed to do with your information. You can read it yourself at priv.gc.ca.
Who is responsible, and how to reach them
One person at Silavelle is responsible for privacy here. Not a department.
Email hello@silavelle.ca or call 613-600-7367 with any question, request or complaint about your information. We answer, usually within two business days.
What we collect from you
- The free website sample form: your name, your business name, your website address, your email address, and whatever you write in the message box. Netlify, who host this site, also records the internet address you sent it from, as every website host does.
- What you pay now for booking: Two optional questions on that same form. What you pay a month, and whether they take a cut on new customers. Leave both blank and we still build your sample. We use them to work out which build fits you. We use them for nothing else, and we never pass them on.
- Your answer to the consent box: We keep whether you ticked it, and the date. That record is how we show you gave us permission to email you.
- When you email us: whatever is in your email, plus your email address and anything in your signature.
You do not need an account to use this site. We do not take payments here. There are no advertising trackers, ever. Our cookie notice has the details.
Why we need it
- To build the free website sample you asked for, and email you the link.
- To answer your questions.
- To follow up with you once about our work, but only if you tick the box on the form.
That box starts empty. It covers two things: emailing you the summary, and one follow-up about it afterwards. That is the whole of it. You can change your mind at any time. Reply to any email, or write to us, and we take you off the list.
Who else can see it
We never sell your information. We never rent it or trade it.
Three companies help us run this website, so they see some of it.
- Netlify hosts this site and receives the forms. Netlify may handle form submissions on servers in the United States. We are telling you that plainly, because it is the one thing here you might not expect.
- Microsoft carries our email. Microsoft is an American company. If we ever send you anything automatic, Resend delivers it, on servers in the United States.
- Google Analytics counts visits, and only if you pressed Accept on the cookie banner. It does not keep your full IP address. Google is an American company, and it may handle that information in the United States.
That is the whole list. A court, or the law, could also require us to hand something over.
If we build something for you
Everything above is about this website and our own form. Your customers are a separate matter.
If we build you a booking system, your customers' records are stored on servers here in Canada, and they stay yours. What we may do with them is set out in the written agreement you sign, not on this page.
Before you sign anything, ask us and we will put it in writing. Where your customers' information is stored. Who at Silavelle can open it. What we do if something goes wrong. And exactly what we hand back to you if you leave.
Clinics in Ontario are covered by a stricter health privacy law, PHIPA. Law offices, and anyone else who keeps confidential files, have their own rules. Tell us at the start. Your rules are stricter than ours, and we would rather write them into the agreement than find out later.
How long we keep it
We delete your form and our emails no later than 12 months after we last speak. Often sooner, once we no longer need them for the reasons above.
If you become a client, the agreement you sign says what we keep and for how long.
How we keep it safe
The connection to this site is encrypted. That is the padlock beside the address in your browser, and you can check it right now.
Inside Silavelle, one person can open what you send through the form. Netlify and Google hold the rest, and both publish their own security practices on their own sites.
What you can ask us to do
You can ask what we hold about you. You can ask us to correct it. You can ask us to delete it, or to stop emailing you.
Email hello@silavelle.ca or call 613-600-7367. We answer, usually within two business days.
If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain about us to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. The link is right there, and you do not need our permission to use it.
If this policy changes
If this policy changes, the new version goes up here. The date at the top of this page tells you when we last changed it.
